New York Knicks Game 2 vs Atlanta Hawks 4/20. I’m Sick – A true fan’s reaction as the Knicks lose Game 2 to Atlanta.
Mike Brown with one of the worst coaching performances in modern NBA History. The First Quarter started off great, with the starters putting together a solid performance. Mitchell Robinson played strong and got into it with Dyson Daniels of the Hawks.
But once the second quarter arrived, everything changed.
Mike Brown decided to take out both Brunson and Towns, running a lineup full of defensive liabilities such as Landry Shamet and Jordan Clarkson, without Jose Alvarado or a decent backup point guard on the floor.
Once Alvarado hit the court, his impact was immediate. The Knicks went back on a run, and the Garden was electric. This carried on to the third quarter, and heading into the fourth things looked great, as they usually do.
But then the fourth quarter arrived.. The Hawks began the fourth quarter strong, outplaying the Knicks. CJ McCollum was missing shots to begin the quarter, and things still looked feasible. Heading into the last five minutes, the hawks had momentum and were knocking down majority of their shots. CJ McCollum started burying the Knicks from all over the floor. With 2:30 left, the Knicks held a 1 point lead, but were losing control. With Brunson on the floor alongside the starters, this game was still more than winnable. OG Anunoby drew a foul, went to the line and missed two free throws, even with Suni Lee in attendance. This was just the beginning of what would follow.
Jalen Brunson knocked down a three to tie the game a minute left. At this point the game was unpredictable. CJ McCollum made a fadeaway two pointer to take the lead, Brunson missed a fadeaway 2 that was blocked by Nickeil Alexander Walker. Jalen Johnson went down the court to extend the lead to four with a fast break dunk. Brunson however, answered back with a quick 3 to keep the Knicks alive and down 1. CJ McCollum was then fouled, sending him to the line. The Garden was electric, but shocked as he missed both free throws. Then came Mike Brown, with 5.2 seconds left and a timeout remaining, he let the Knicks run the length of the court to get a shot off, without even considering calling time. This was a tragic way to end the game, as Mikal Bridges missed a contested fadeway to ice the game. If a timeout was called, Brunson or anyone could’ve got a better look and won the game. This was a must win game, as now the Hawks go back to Atlanta for two games while tied 1-1. All I have to say is Fire Mike Brown.
